Contact Lenses: Combining Convenience & Clarity
Crisp, clear, comfortable vision isn’t just about having the right prescription; it’s about ensuring your vision serves your lifestyle and maintains your quality of life. Contact lenses are one of the many ways we can help your family find vision correction that suits their lifestyle.
While we adore our extensive selection of high-quality designer frames, we also understand it’s essential to have flexibility with your vision. Your frames may be beautiful, but they may not be the best choice while you’re playing sports or addressing a specific eye condition.
We thoroughly examine your eyes, health, and vision to determine how contact lenses could provide you and your family clarity and comfort. Start the process today by booking your appointment at either of our fantastic locations.
Types of Contact Lenses
When it comes to contact lenses, they are far more than meets the eye.
Prescription contact lenses have been providing clear vision to many for a number of years, but advancements in contact lenses can now address several vision problems and eye conditions. Some contact lenses can now help address issues like presbyopia, dry eye, keratoconus, and more.
These lenses can include:
- Rigid gas-permeable lenses
- Scleral lenses
- Multifocal lenses
- Orthokeratology lenses
We can help determine which type of lenses may fit your needs best when you visit us for a contact lens exam and fitting.
Why Are Contact Lens Exams Important?
Eye exams are essential before we provide any treatment, lens prescription, or management strategy, including contact lenses.
Our unique, comfortable, and medically-focused approach searches for several issues that may be affecting your sight. In some cases, these problems may prevent you from wearing contact lenses safely. At Dr. Goldstone Vision Center in Fountain Valley, we use several modern techniques to assess your eye health, vision quality, and corneal condition.
If you aren’t a candidate for contact lenses, we can recommend a few other options that may fit your needs.
Your Eye Exam
The first step towards getting your contact lenses is an eye exam. Our comprehensive process takes a look at your vision and eye health to help determine if you have any issues that may prevent you from wearing contact lenses safely or comfortably.
These conditions could include:
To ensure contact lenses can serve your needs, we will also consider aspects of your lifestyle, like your job, home environment, and hobbies.
Fitting Your Contact Lenses
We’ll examine and measure a few different aspects of your eyes during our contact lens fitting to help determine which type of lens may work best for you.
We typically measure the shape and size of your cornea, pupil, and iris, as well as determine the quality of your tear film. Once we complete the fitting, we’ll have an accurate contact lens prescription.
Taking Care of Your Contacts
After we conclude the fitting, we’ll teach you how to properly clean and store your contact lenses before providing you with a trial pair to wear over a couple of weeks. We’ll also book a series of follow-up appointments simply to ensure your eyes adjust appropriately to the lenses and no issues develop.
If you do notice your eyes feeling irritated, sore, or uncomfortable while wearing your contacts, please remove them and contact our team as soon as you can.
